Capital:  Phnom Penh

Currency:  Cambodian riel  (KHR) though US Dollars are the preferred monetary currency throughout the country. It’s wise to carry a supply of USD when visiting Cambodia.

Language:  Khmer

ATM Networks: There are plenty in Phnomh Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

Internet/WiFi: Internet speed is on average 4.4 Mbps which is 70% slower than in U.S. (14.2 Mbps). WiFi coverage is low and not as easy to find one.

Electricity: 230V, 50Hz with sockets and plugs Type A, Type C and Type G.

Water: not safe to drink

Tipping:  not customary but 5%-10% is warranted for good service.

Weather - When to Go:  The  most popular time to go to Cambodia is between November and February, with the peak season falling between late December and mid January. At this time of year the weather is excellent—there is little rain and it isn't uncomfortably hot. This is a popular time of the year though, and destinations such as Angkor Wat and the Cambodian islands can be very busy.

Airport

Pnomh Penh:  There is a Tourist Information Booth at the airport   Coach: There is a public bus to the city center that stops directly in front of the airport gates. Transportation: Cost is 1,500 Riel  ($0.38). Taxis: available outside the gates.  Make sure to agree on the fare before getting in (usually between 3,600 -6,000 Riel ($9 - $15).  Tuks tuks are also available and are cheaper than taxis, usually 2,800 Riel ($7). ATMs and Currency brokers can be found at the terminal.

Siem Reap:  There is an information desk located landside in both terminals. Taxis and Tuk-Tuks are readily available in the ground transportation area of the airport. You can visit the Transportation Information Counter (Arrivals area) to pre-purchase a ticket for your destination.  ATMs are available.
